Morris Irving Grayson, Sr., age 91 and longtime Irving resident also formerly of Childress, Texas, died on July 29, 2014. He was born to Merton T. Grayson and Bonnie Mae Henderson Grayson in Knox City, Texas on May 3, 1923 and went on to serve his country proudly in the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II. Morris served with the Third Army under General Patton and earned a Bronze Star for his valor. He went on to enjoy a career as a machinist for Braniff Airlines until his retirement in 1985. Morris was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed snow and water skiing and just generally being outdoors. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Freddie Paul Grayson and will be greatly missed by his son Morris “Butch” Grayson, Jr. and his wife Earnie of Irving; son Jerry Don Grayson also of Irving; daughters Teresa Diane Grayson of Bedford and Debbie Lynn Edwards and her husband Ron of Coppell; son Steve Grayson and wife Darlene also of Coppell; Sheryl Barrett and husband Dan of Corsicana; Mark Damon and wife Denise of Irving along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters Merle Patterson and Helen McLarty; brother Emory Grayson and numerous special nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 in Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel and interment with military honors in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens will immediately follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
