Obituary for Maudine "Deannie" Basham (Sims)
Maudine “Deannie” Basham, age 85 and longtime Irving resident, died on August 17, 2014. She was born in Roby, Texas on January 12, 1929 to Charlie and Mary Williams Sims. Deannie was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Irving and worked as teacher’s aide for the Irving School District until her retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Hubert Basham and will be greatly missed by her sons Gene Basham and his wife Patty of Tomball, TX and Steve Basham of Arlington; brothers B.W. Sims of Beeville, LA and Bill Sims of Hawley, TX; sister Murell Sims of San Antonio along with 5 special grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Lorene Kerns of Grapevine. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the First Christian Church of Irving with Reverend Deborah R. Jones officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. The family will receive friends at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 20, 2014.
