Obituary for John Thorn Long

John Thorn   Long
John Thorn Long died August 17, 2014 in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was born in Princeton, West Virginia on June 3, 1948 to Albert Gordon Long and Katherine Thorn Long. John will be dearly missed by his two sisters, Dana Dodson of Princeton, West Virginia and Margaret Senter of Corinth, Texas; his three brothers, William Long of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Richard Long of Richmond, Virginia, and Frank Long of Peterstown, West Virginia; along with as 17 nieces & nephews, 33 great nieces & nephews, and 21 great great nieces & nephews. Preceding John in death was his parents Albert & Katherine; and one brother, Jim Long. John was a quiet man, serving in the US Navy, and after being discharged he went on to spend many years as a truck driver. He lived alone, but many of his neighbors conveyed to his family what a nice guy he was, being very apparent that he was well liked by his neighbors in Grand Prairie. John was also known and will be remembered as a Christian man. Inurnment with Military Honors will occur on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas.
