Obituary for Alma Lou Staniford (Higgins)

Alma Lou  Staniford (Higgins)
Alma Lou Staniford, age 84, passed away on September 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Willard Higgins and Floye Wall Higgins on February 10, 1930 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Alma was a dynamic Christian woman who touched the lives of countless people in her community. She was passionate about her Lord and volunteerism. She was an active member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church for over 50 years serving in a multitude of capacities. In 1995, she was awarded the “Salt and Light Award for Outstanding Christian Ministry in Our Community” by PPBC. She served as a volunteer at Baylor Hospital Irving for over 40 years as well as multiple other organizations in Irving including Irving Parks and Recreation, Baptist Benevolence and Camp Fire. In 1998, she was recognized by the City of Irving when she was given the “High-Spirited Citizen Award for Outstanding Contribution”. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 13 years, Willard Paul Staniford and her children: Anita Malone & Rocky Malone (deceased), Cynthia Morse and husband David, Mike Stevens and wife Tina, Sherry Shockley and husband Guy Ray, Bart Stevens and wife Nathalie, Beth Moore and husband Tom, Debra Chamberlain and husband Jason. Alma was proud of her large family which includes grandchildren: Jeff Martin, Alicia Johnson, Roxey Malone, Wesley Malone, Steven Morse, Shawn Morse, Joseph Stevens, Samantha Smith, Lauren Stevens, Spencer Stevens, Levi Barton, Raven Stevens, Blaze Stevens, Kate Moore, Tess Moore, Jake Chamberlain; and great-grandchildren: Elvis Johnson, Lily Malone, Carter Malone, Kaleo Morse, Colten Allen, Leila McGee and granddogs; as well as her extended family: DeAnne McGee and children, Norm and Debbie Staniford and children. Alma is survived by her brother and sisters: Bill Higgins, Gwen Welsh and Betty Esther. She is preceded in death by her brother Joe Higgins, her husband of 26 years, Billy Wayne Stevens, and her husband of 18 years, Gordon Dale Roach. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Plymouth Park Baptist Church on Monday, September 22, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Church with Rev. Ken Branam and Rev. Bob Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
