Obituary for Anita Jean Hickey (Arnold)

Anita Jean Hickey, 84, beloved wife of William “Bill” Hickey, aunt and friend to many passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 and is now home with our heavenly father. Anita was born in Dallas County to Willie Elma “Billie” and Ralph Weldon Arnold on April 19, 1930. She met the love of her life, William “Bill” Hickey while working at Titches Goettinger (now Macy’s) in downtown Dallas. They married on September 6, 1947 and enjoyed 67 loving years together. After retiring from Halco Fence Company in Dallas, Anita, a polio survivor, worked diligently with the Post-Polio Association and was instrumental in securing sidewalks, ramps and parking spaces for those with disabilities in the City of Irving. She also served on the Irving Arts Counsel and also taught beginner computer classes for senior citizens for several years. Anita is preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Pamela Jean Hickey and her sister Billie Jo Stephan. She is survived by her beloved husband Bill Hickey; brother Ralph Arnold and wife Marybeth; brother-in-law Joe Stephan and his son Bill McHam; nieces Carolyn McCombs, Jodie Rogers, Sherry Sims, and Chelia Mires; great-nieces Candice Brandt; Audrey McNeal, Amy Coulter, Chelsea McCombs, Traci Hreha and Dusty Land; great-great nephews Cary Kimberlin, Paul McCombs and Mark Arnold along with 19 great-great nieces and nephews and six great-great-great nieces and nephews.
