Mariah Charmayne "Tootsie" Douglas
Beautiful Mariah Charmayne Douglas returned to God after 15 short, impactful years. She was born on March 12, 1999 and died January 23, 2015. Mariah attended Birdville High School in North Richland Hills where she ‘Dared to Soar’ in academics, athletics and art. She was an honor student and outstanding defensive member of the Lady Hawks Varsity Soccer Team. Mariah was baptized in the Woodhaven Presbyterian Church in Irving, Texas where she attended and participated in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and numerous other youth activities throughout her life. She was known and loved by all for her bright, welcoming smile and warm, generous personality. Mariah is survived by her mother and father, Sarah and Karl Becker; her brother Jakob Becker; her grandparents Jennifer Douglas; Rex and Janice Douglas; Terry and Beverly Becker along with a host of other family and friends too numerous to list but so important in her life that they too will grieve for their beloved Tootsie. Mariah will also be remembered and loved by those she never met but whose lives will be forever changed by her gift of life through organ and tissue donations. The service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Woodhaven Presbyterian Church with Reverend Julie Riley and Reverend Dr. Ron Salfen officiating. Family and friends are asked to wear bright colors to honor Tootsie’s vibrant spirit. Mariah’s family requests memorial donations to a scholarship fund to honor her memory at http://www.gofundme.com/l0ippg .Their goal is to raise enough money to provide a one-time scholarship to a senior soccer player at Birdville High School who shows the same drive, determination, spirit and love of the game that Mariah did when she played. Any additional funds received will be donated to the Suicide & Crisis Center of North Texas.
