Obituary for Janie F. Boyd (Warren)

Janie F. Boyd (Warren)
Boyd, Janie F.

Passed away peacefully the morning of January 29, 2015, at Brookdale Oak Hollow Nursing Home in Bedford, Texas. The third child of Freda Marjie and William Albert Warren, Sr., Janie was born February 11, 1929, at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She attended public school while growing up in Dallas, graduating from W. H. Adamson High School in May of 1946 with honors and earning a scholarship to SMU. Regrettably, she was unable to attend college due to her father’s untimely death. Having enjoyed taking drafting classes in high school, after graduation Janie worked as a geological and land map draftsperson for the Atlantic Richfield Co. until 1953. She and Robert Jack Boyd were married on December 24, 1952, starting their family the following year with the arrival of their son, Brian Keith, and later daughters Leigh Ann and Andrea Lynn.

Although Janie missed her work, she enjoyed her role as wife, mother and homemaker. She loved and nurtured her children and, later in life, her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, playing dominoes and intensely competitive rounds of the board game “Polyanna,” Mexican food, Barbecue and family camping trips, first to Colorado and Palo Duro Canyon during the four years the family lived in Lubbock and then to east Texas after moving back to Irving in 1964. Later in life, with children grown, Janie returned to work for four years at Sunmark Exploration Oryx Energy before retiring in 1983.

Preceded in death by her husband Jack, she is survived by son Brian Keith Boyd and wife De Ann, daughter Leigh Ann Rosser and husband Dr. Randall Stephen Rosser and daughter Andrea Lynn Fry; grandchildren Audrey Herrington, Brad Rosser, Garrett Rosser, Meghan Roten, Meridith Boyd, Matthew Fry, Ashley Fry and Amanda Fry; great-grandchildren Tuesday and Emerson Herrington, Cadence Kellett, Evelyn and Olivia Roten, Brayden Rosser and Katherine Morris, and brother William Albert Warren, Jr.

Services will be held at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving, Texas, at 10:30 a.m. on February 3, 2015, with burial following at DFW National Military Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
