Obituary for Jo Ann Russell (Wolcott)

Jo Ann  Russell (Wolcott)
Jo Ann Wolcott Russell passed away with peace and grace on May 20, 2015 with many of her family members by her side. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church, 1615 West Airport Freeway in Irving. Jo Ann was born on October 7, 1934 in Jackson, Mississippi to Joe and Mildred Wolcott. She graduated from Borger High School and attended Texas Tech University. After spending time in Borger, Dumas and Abilene, Jo Ann worked for various oil companies while raising her two sons, Terry and Brent Overton. She had a very successful career in fuels management alongside her husband, Sterling Russell in Abilene and Irving.
Jo Ann and Sterling loved traveling, especially through the Caribbean Islands. After Sterling's death in 1997, Jo Ann continued traveling throughout the world with various friends. She was very active in her church and enjoyed her bridge club friends. Jo Ann especially loved her Boston Terriers, Bonnie and Chula.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Sterling, her son, Terry, and her son's father, Gaylon Overton. Jo Ann is survived by her son, Brent Overton of Irving, Trevor Overton of Flower Mound and Kendall Overton of Grapevine. She is also survived by her three stepsons and their wives, Terry and Lynne Russell of Irving; Jerry and Cindy Russell of Austin; and Barry and Jill Russell of Midland; and former daughters in law, Jan Russell and Suzanne Overton. Her Russell grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Rusty Russell and son Danny; Wade and Margot Russell; Paige and Jon Hrubetz, Hudson and Claire; Michelle and Blake Reid, Olivia; Lauren and Ryan Grafe, Cannon; Jay and Shannon Russell; Heather and Lee Martin, Kaden and Kameron; Jason and Becca Russell; Aimee and Casey Herring, Blakeleigh and Gunner.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Baylor Medical Center at Irving Intensive Care for their loving care of Jo Ann. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Plymouth Park United Methodist Church 1615 West Airport Freeway
