Obituary for Raymond Conway Croft
Raymond Conway Croft, 75, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center following a brief struggle with cancer. He leaves his brothers, Leslie and Carlton; his son, Glenn; three grandchildren - Amanda, Arsilia and Alexa; as well as numerous family members and friends. Born in Darby, PA, but raised in the Panama Canal Zone, the son of Leslie Wyatt Croft, Sr. and Mary Shinault Croft, he was a 38 year resident of University Hills in Las Colinas. In his early years, Mr. Croft was an avid athlete who competed in swimming, baseball, and football. After graduating from Cristobal High School in 1957, he studied Mathematics at Virginia Tech. On December 21, 1960, as a new USAF Captain, he married his high school sweetheart, Arsilia Isabel Vinas. He frequently said that this was the best day of his life. After serving with the USAF for several years in the Strategic Air Command, Mr. Croft had the opportunity to join IBM in San Antonio, where he became one of their top 10 sales people worldwide. Later, he went on to become recognized as a world-class leader in sales training working as the International Training Director for Xerox Corporation in both Houston and Dallas. At a late stage in life, he made a career change to commercial real estate where once again he proved himself as standout by becoming a top producing Vice President of Swearingen Realty Group in Dallas. He not only took pride in his business achievements, but also truly relished the friends he made during his lifetime in business. Mr. Croft had a passion for landscaping and architecture. He loved animals; especially dogs. The last 10 years of his life, his best buddy and constant companion was his pet dog, a Schnauzer named Biscuit. As an avid golfer he was a 20-year member of Las Colinas Country Club where he enjoyed both planning and participating in golf tournaments as well as social events. A Committal Service with military honors will be held at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas where he will be buried alongside his devoted wife of 45 years, Arsi Croft.
