Capitola “Granny” Chance, age 93 and longtime Irving resident, died surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday October 27, 2015. She was born in Dallas, Texas on May 14, 1922 to Marrion Harrison and Jessie Mullinix Harrison. Capitola was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and known to many as Granny. She devoted most of her time to the love and care of her family, enjoyed working in her flower beds, taking care of her birds and fish, and always made sure the stray cats in the neighborhood did not go hungry; the highlight of her week, was Friday nights, when she would go out to eat, and then to Wal-Mart with her daughters. Capitola is preceded in death by her parents; former husbands Colvin Kennard and Henry Chance; sister Marrion Leola Bennett; brothers E.F. Harrison, Boyd Harrison, and Thelbert Harrison; grandson Stephen McDonald; great-grandson Wyatt McDonald. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Carol Stearns and Wanda Pratt; Grandchildren Kathy Sprayberry and husband Jay, Leslie Pratt and wife Jennifer, Stephanie Duran and husband Joey, Amy Mashburn and husband Jon; great-grandchildren Ashley, Amanda, Jordan, Mackenzie, Allison, Lauren, Courtney, Gracie, Grayson and Cody; brother Marshall Harrison and wife Margie. The family will be having a visitation from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM, Thursday October 29, 2015 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, at the Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, Friday October 30, 2015 with internment directly following the service at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
