Obituary for John Phillip Hampton

John Phillip  Hampton
John Phillip Hampton, age 77, died November 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 20, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John Woodrow Hampton and Alene Mae (Debrucque) Hampton. John grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was an Irving resident for 47 years. He owned and operated American Porcelain Enamel Company of Dallas for 25 years, until his retirement in 1999. John was a member of Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and then went on to serve his country as a member of the United States Army from 1959 until 1962. He was an avid golfer and reader, served on the board of directors of Evergreen Life Services from 2006 until 2015, longtime member and Elder at St. Stephens Presbyterian Church. John is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years Laura Hampton, his parents, brother Donald P. Hampton, and daughter Jennifer Hampton. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, LeighAnn Genard and husband Scott of Carrollton, Cheryl Stovall and husband Tucker of Frisco; sons John M. Hampton of Shreveport, Louisiana, and David L. Hampton of Minden, Louisiana; sister Cheryl Hampton Rogers of Irving; sister-in-law Lou Ann Whatley and her husband Carl of Allen; seven grandchildren Ty, Jake and Jack Genard, Savannah, Sydnee, Colton and Caleb Stovall; along with many devoted nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday November 11, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A committal service with Military Honors is scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday November 12, 2015 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church, 1615 W. Airport Frwy., Irving, Texas.
