Obituary for Joe Wayne Loyd

Joe Wayne  Loyd
Joe Wayne Loyd, longtime Irving resident, died on March 22, 2016 in Irving at age 88. On April 16, 1927 in Cardwell, Missouri, Joe was born to Herman S. and Katie (Brannum) Loyd. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1949 to 1969 as a Gunnery Sergeant and then lent his talents for 20 years at LTV Vought as their print shop supervisor. Along with being a career man, Joe was a deacon of his church for 22 years and committed member of Westside Church of Christ. Joe had a passion for gardening and was known to his family as “Papa”, by the grandkids, “Poopsie” by his beloved wife Bonnie and “Papa Joe” by his great-grandchildren. He was reunited in Heaven with Bonnie Louise, his parents, sisters Betty Crow and Norma Gray and brother, Jack Loyd. His legacy will live on through those left to cherish his memory, including sons Kevin Loyd and wife Sandy of Grand Prairie, Randy Loyd and wife Carolyn of Irving and Danny Loyd and wife Judy of Prosper; daughter Jodi Loyd of Euless along with six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mark Roberts officiating. Committal Service with Military Honors at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
