Joseph Benson Salfrank, age 89, died surrounded by his loving family, Friday, April 8, 2016. He was born in Husted, Colorado on July 25, 1926, to Benjamin Harrison and Bessie Etta (McKenzie) Salfrank. In 1944, at the young age of 18, Joseph joined the U.S. Navy, where he completed service school in aviation and radar operations, and served as an Aviation Radioman - Air Crewman, during World War II. Joseph continued his education after his service in the military, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in accounting from SMU. Left to cherish his memory is wife Doris C. Salfrank of Dallas; daughter Joan Cunniff of Grapevine; son Sam Salfrank; brother Paul Salfrank of California; stepson Kelly Hester of College Station; stepdaughter Janet Mills of Glen Rose; stepson Craig Hester of Tyler; stepdaughter Lisa Epperson of Tyler; grandson Andrew Bond; grandchildren Sean and Sydney Cunniff; granddaughter Brittany Kuykendall and her children (great grandchildren) Keaton and Adelynn; step grandchildren Julie, Jason, Matt, Micha, Casey, Zach, Tyson and Cliff and 14 great grandchildren. A funeral will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas; committal service with military honors at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. The family will receive friends between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, Monday, April 11, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home.
