Alvina “JoAnn” Montelongo, longtime Irving resident, died in Irving at age 72 on April 14, 2016. She was born to Lorenzo and Antonia (Vega) Pineda in Caldwell, Texas on May 30, 1943. JoAnn worked in the warehousing industry and was devoted spiritually and prayerfully to family and friends. She was reunited in Heaven with the Lord, her parents and sister, Feliciana Spears. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 46 years, Roberto Montelongo; brother Johnny B. Pineda and his wife Vera of Caldwell; daughter Sylvia DeLeon and husband Frank of Grand Prairie; sons Robert Montelongo, Jr. of Frisco and John Montelongo of Irving; grandsons Christian DeLeon and Chase Montelongo along with granddaughters Catherine DeLeon, Lauren Montelongo and numerous friends. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joseph Trinh at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Irving. A private family interment will held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 1:00 PM.
