Obituary for Carolyn Amelia Halter (Luecke)

Carolyn Amelia  Halter (Luecke)
Carolyn Amelia Halter, longtime Irving resident, died at age 81, in Irving, enveloped in the love of her family. Her life started in Dallas on August 24, 1934. She was the daughter of Dr. Percy E. Luecke, Sr. and Amelia (Heiner) Luecke. Carolyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree from North Texas State College and derived a great deal of satisfaction and fulfillment from her work at Northlake College, which began in 1977. She also gifted her time and talent to the other passion in her life, which was her service at Good Shepherd Church Lutheran, where she was a longstanding active choir and church member. On April 13, 2016, Carolyn was reunited with the Lord and her parents, her son, Dr. John A. Halter and two sisters, Margaret Waldschmidt and Dorothy Williams. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Edmund J. Halter; daughters Amelia K. Cobb and husband Brian; Dianne L. Plumb and husband Jerold; Janet E. Riley and husband Jerry; daughter in law Dr. Leanne Burnett; grandchildren Alix Halter, Ian Halter, Andrew Schoen, Emma Schoen, Caroline Plumb along with brother Dr. Percy E. Luecke, Jr. and sisters Elizabeth Brondos and Marilyn Rynearson. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irving with Pastor Bradley Carroll presiding on Monday, April 18, 2016. The family will receive friends at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Carolyn will be inurned on May 9, 2016 at both Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery followed by Grove Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations in Carolyn’s honor should be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church/Lampost Fund at www.gslcirving.com or 2620 W. Grauwyler Rd., Irving, TX 75061.
