Smith  Wong
Smith Wong, an Irving resident since 1972, passed away at age 89 after fighting stomach cancer for 9 months. He was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica to John and Mary Wong. Smith earned his first Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from University of California – Berkeley but then transferred to Tulsa University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. He spent his time and talent as an active member of Holy Family of Nazareth parish. On April 19, 2016, Smith was reunited with the Lord, his parents and brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Daisy Wong; daughter Laurie Gulde; son Steven Wong and spouse Carolyn; grandchildren Michael Wong, Evelyn Gulde, and Tommy Gulde. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving with Assistant Pastor Joel Bako as Celebrant on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. A visitation is scheduled at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary to commence at 6:00 PM. Smith will be entombed after the funeral mass at Calvary Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Dallas. The Family requests that memorial donations in Smith’s memory should be directed to Meals on Wheels of Dallas at www.vnatexas.org.
