Marian “Mary” Jackson, long time Irving resident, died on May 4, 2016 in Irving, just one day after her 94th birthday. Her life’s journey began in Motley County, Texas on May 3, 1922, where she was born to Rufus Herbert and Rosella (Myers) Tanner. Mary gave 41 years of dedicated service to the Irving Independent School District and enjoyed memberships in the Irving Retired School Personnel Association, the Irving Book Review Club and devoted long time member at First Baptist Church of Irving. Mary was reunited in heaven with her parents and her beloved husband of 54 years, Leo Jackson. She will be forever missed by those left to remember her as the loving mother, grandmother, dear aunt and good friend she was, including her daughter Myrna Lancaster and husband Ken of Irving; granddaughter Kristi McGuire and Sean of Southlake; great granddaughter Emily Barton and best friend Sue Burke of Irving, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Wayne Watkins officiating and interment immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made in Mary’s honors to The Salvation Army at www.salvationarmyusa.org or the Child Study Center at cscfw.org and 1300 W. Lancaster, #100, Fort Worth, TX, 76102.
