Meredith "Bo" Bolger
Meredith “Bo” Bolger, well known and much respected member of the Irving community, died in Irving, on May 4, 2016 at the age of 86. His marvelous and selfless life journey began in Pilot Point, Texas on December 23, 1930. He was the beloved son of Meredith Leonard and Bobbie (Kinder) Bolger and a graduate of Waco High School in 1949. In that same year, he earned the honor of Eagle Scout #662 of Troop 2198. Bo continued his education at University of Texas in Arlington and served in the National Guard throughout the 1950’s. He owned and operated Meredith Bolger General Insurance Agency for over 50 years in Irving, which was just one of the numerous contributions he gifted through his time and talent to the Irving community. Bo was charter member of the Irving Rat Pack and served in the Irving Jaycee’s during the 1960’s, offering his leadership in the position of President during his tenure there. He was also a valuable member of the Irving Masonic Lodge #1218 A.F. & A.M., Irving Elks Lodge, Irving Noon Day Rotary, the Lion’s Club and Irving AMBUCS, and still found the time to mentor, coach and guide countless young men in youth football and little league baseball throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. Bo was also a devoted Shriner, becoming a 32nd Degree Shriner in November 1963. He also served as past Chairman of the Irving Parks and Recreation Board and Irving Convention and Visitor Bureau. Bo loved golf and was an avid golfer until he was 75 years old. He will be remembered by many as a civic minded man who gave generously of himself to the Irving community and an unforgettable part of its history and culture. Bo was reunited in Heaven with his parents, his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Anne “Pat” Bolger, who died in March of 2015, and his grandson Joseph Robert “Joe Bob” Bolger. Left to carry on his legacy and cherish his memory are his son Douglas Bolger of North Richland Hills; daughter Kay Bolger Matthews and husband Mickey of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; son Joe Bolger of McAlester, OK; daughter Suzie Bolger of Colleyville; grandchildren Stephanie Upton and husband John, Meredith Anne Wells and husband Ken, Clayton Matthews, Jordan Bolger, Corey Bolger, Taryn Brasher and husband Brady, Desiree Duran and husband Gabe, and Matthew Warren along with ten great grandchildren and countless friends.
