Obituary for Curtis Leon Callaway

Curtis Leon  Callaway



Curtis Callaway, age 83, a resident of Irving for the past 44 years died on Monday, May 9, 2016. He was born on November 16, 1932 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Left to cherish his memory include his faithful wife of 53 years, Shirley, as well as his son Kevin Callaway and daughter Leann Callaway, both of Irving. He is also survived by his sister Esther Osman of Morrisville, North Carolina and brother, Leon Callaway of Colorado City, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Martha Callaway and brother Lawrence Callaway. He was a loving husband, father and friend. It seemed Curtis never met a stranger and enjoyed helping others through various service projects around the community. Curtis worked for 35 years as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. He also worked as a flight instructor and started the aviation program at Mountain View College. He served in the Air Force from1951-1967 with the Air National Guard. Curtis was an active member of Oak View Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at Oak View Baptist Church on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:00AM with Rev. Jim Gerlach officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Oak View Baptist Church, “Stepping into the Future Building Fund” located at 1004 S. Story Road, Irving, TX 75060.
