Betty Smith, long time Irving resident, died in Irving on June 8, 2016 at the age of 86. She began her life journey in Roosevelt, Oklahoma where she born to Leo Andrew and Mary Ann (Smith) Hopkins on August 19, 1929. Betty will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She devoted most of her time to the care and nurturing of her family. Betty’s life exemplified Christianity and her love of God. She was a long time member of South MacArthur Church of Christ. Betty adored her family and her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with them. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Betty was reunited in Heaven with her parents and beloved spouse, Carl Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Pat Smith and wife Randy of Garland, Mike Smith and wife Ramona of Houston, Jeff Smith and wife Twana of Austin and Andy Smith and Wife Cindy of Irving; sisters Patricia Bowers and husband James and Wilma Woods, all of Midwest City, OK, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other loving extended family members. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Irving with Mr. Jason Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Betty will be laid to rest at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
