Obituary for Richard Wendell Jones

Richard Wendell Jones, 85, of Irving, Texas, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 13th, 2016 at his home. Born in Winner, South Dakota to Richard Everett and Catherine Leontine Jones. Wendell was a retired engineer for the aerospace industry, Vought Corp. He had a passion for airplanes. His hobbies included building and flying remote control airplanes, crossword puzzles, & reading. He also shared his wife's passion for dogs and cats. After his wife passed he continued to feed the stray cats and he loved his dogs with all his heart. During his last year he rescued the dog of his dreams, a loving and goofy labrador named Danny Boy. Danny Boy brought much joy to Wendell so in reality they rescued each other. The following was written by Wendell: "I want to dream of a place...a pleasant place like a meadow in spring, where all of the pets I ever owned are there...and they are healthy and vigorous and playing around the meadow with each other...Sherrill is there, and Mother and Dad...and Janet is there healthy and happy...and I'll be there forever, loving my dogs and family." His dream is now a reality. Wendell is survived by his son Stephen Jones, his daughter Susan Busbey, his grandson Joshua Busbey, his great grandchildren Karissa and Jeremiah Busbey, his niece Rochelle Meyers, and his nephew Gregory Smith. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to Noon on Tuesday, July 19th, at Ben F. Brown's Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service the same day at Oak Grove Memorial Garden starting at 1:00 pm.
