Dolly Barfield, age 84, died Friday, September 9, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 28, 1931 in Cooleemee, North Carolina to Charles Fairbanks and Cleta (Lou) Nichols. Dolly, a 50-year resident of Irving, enjoyed her career with Zales Corp. as an account manager for 25 years until her retirement in 1997. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and outdoors woman who enjoyed fishing. She is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Bobby and Arlie Nichols and sister Colleen Thomas. Left to cherish her memory is husband H.D. Barfield; daughter Dianne Boysen and husband Benny of Irving; daughter Gale Smith of Oklahoma; daughter Kathy Watson of Coppell; brother Rae Currin of Mississippi; sister Louise Portis of South Carolina; sister Caroline Springfield of Terrell; sister Maxine Massey of Longview; sister Jackie Daniell of Euless; sister Peggy Smith of Euless; grandchildren; Carrie Thibodeaux, Christie Lott, B.J. Boysen; Bonnie Ferguson, Cooper Bailey, John Bailey, Charles Woodard; Michelle Smith, Clayton and Amanda Byrd; great grandchildren Jayden, Jaxyn, Jayse, Savannah B., Hudson, Chloe, Caylee, Cooper, John, Dylon, Savannah W., Cassandra, Ciera, Emily, Taylor and Alexa. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the funeral home, with an interment immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
