Obituary for Walter Lafayette "Dub" Futch

Walter Lafayette "Dub"  Futch
Walter ‘Dub’ Futch, age 96, died on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Walter was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on April 4, 1921 to Thomas Earl Futch and Carrie Estelle (Wiles) Futch. He was a longtime resident since 1923 when he moved to Irving. Walter was a member of First Baptist Church Irving. He and his wife Sibyl shared a love for gardening, while he loved golf and fishing. He also volunteered at the Baptist Benevolence Ministry in Irving since 1995. Walter served in the United States Army Air Corps as an instructor and Pilot and later in the Air Force and Reserves, serving both in WWII and Korea. He is preceded in death by his wife Sibyl (2007); sister Doris Cross, brothers Kenneth Futch and Thomas Futch. Although Walter and Sibyl had no children of their own, they loved and treated their numerous nieces and nephews and their children as their very own. Funeral services are being held 2pm on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at First Baptist Church Irving 403 South Main Street Irving, TX 75060 with an interment immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens 1413 E. Irving Blvd. Irving, TX 75061. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the funeral home from 6 – 8PM. The family requests in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org.
