Ruben Gutierrez Alaniz, age 91, died on June 25, 2018. Ruben was born on April 26, 1927 in Texas to Cayetano Alaniz and Cipriana Gutierrez. Ruben was a member of the VFW 8621 in Alice, Texas as well as a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Irving. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and listening to Tejano music. He loved to cook and entered several cooking contests where he won every single time. He was a big Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and was a big family man. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents; spouse of 69 years Anita Garcia; sons Ruben Alaniz Jr, Jose Rene Alaniz, and Andres Alaniz; sisters Gonzala Davila, Eloisa Garcia, Beatrice Garcia, and Maria Perez; brothers Martin Alaniz, Eduardo Alaniz, and Gilberto Alaniz. Left to cherish his memory are children Rosalinda Carrasco and husband Hector, Irma Crockett and husband Brant, Robert Alaniz and wife Cathy, Nazario Alaniz and wife Cindy, and Richard Alaniz; 23 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many extended loving family and friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, Wednesday, June 27, 2018 with a Rosary to be said at 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held 2:30pm on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. A committal with Military Honors will be 10:00am, Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
