LaVerne  Hicks (Grissom)
LaVerne Grissom Hicks, age 101 died on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Laverne was born in Bunyan, Texas on August 8, 1917 to John Kyle Grissom and Rayda (Greene) Grissom. Laverne lived a long full life and was a true servant to her family throughout her years as a homemaker. She was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Irving. Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, husband Truman Russell Hicks, daughter Anna Davis, as well as five brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memories are son James Hicks and wife Alice of Grand Prairie; daughter Betty Hunt and husband Lee of Plano; grandchildren Michael Hicks, Michelle McVicker and husband Rob, Tammy Ethridge, John Hicks, Christopher Hunt, Brent Hunt and wife Veronica, and Rusty Davis; seven great grandchildren; and eleven great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX. An interment will immediately follow at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX 75243.
