Memorial Arch: Remembering a Loved One During the Holidays
Take A Moment for Personal Reflection
The loss of a loved one is never easy, especially around the holidays. If you have recently lost someone, please accept our sincerest condolences. The holidays are supposed to be a time filled with love, joy, and celebration. It’s a time for friends and family to gather together, celebrate our faith, exchange gifts, and look forward for what’s to come in the new year. However, when you’re mourning the loss of a loved one, the holidays might feel like anything but joyous or hopeful.
To help those who have recently lost someone and those who are still in mourning, we invite you
to attend our 3rd annual Faith & Grief Memorial Arch. This year, the arch will be located at the east end of Klyde Warren Park from December 1 – 22 from 11 AM to 6 PM.

Remembering All Veterans - December 7, 2018 at 12 PM
On the day we commit as a nation to remember the brave men and women who fought at Pearl Harbor, we gather again as a community to honor all veterans who have served our country.

On the longest night of the year, we gather at this interfaith prayer service to acknowledge the pain that loss brings and to cling to the hope that as we walk through our grief, light shines on the other side.
The Importance of Coming Together
When a family experiences a loss, it’s important that they come together to comfort and support one another through such a difficult time. While everybody grieves in their own ways, being surrounded by those you love can help ease your pain and make the grief you’re experiencing more manageable.
This is especially true around the holiday season. As families from all over gather to celebrate, those who are in mourning might not necessarily feel like getting in the spirit of the season. The Faith & Grief Memorial Arch represents a unique way to honor a loved one during the holidays and find the closure you might be seeking. Even just a few brief moments spent at the arch can be enough to feel a connection to your loved one and include them in your holidays.
Want to Get Involved?
The holidays are one of the busiest times for volunteering during the year. Between serving dinners at shelters or helping wrap gifts at the mall, there are plenty of ways to get involved and help your community. This year, consider trying something new and volunteering at the memorial arch. We are in need of volunteers to help run the arch every day from now until the 22nd of December.
As a volunteer, you will be responsible greeting visitors and encouraging them to sign a ribbon and place it on the arch. To register as a volunteer and select what shifts you would like to assist us, please visit this link

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, we would also like to invite you to attend our monthly faith and grief services. These events are held on the third Saturday each month at Woodhaven Presbyterian Church, 3650 North O’Connor Road, Irving 75062.
