Obituary for Janice O'Neill Schriefer (Neyenhaus)

Former Irving resident Jan Schriefer of Carrollton died Saturday, Nov. 8, in an Irving hospital of heart failure. She was 79. Janice O’Neill Neyenhaus was born Nov. 11, 1934, in Tell City, Ind., where she grew up and graduated from high school. She was the eldest child of John Neyenhaus and Alice Hall Neyenhaus of Tell City. Jan was a sales associate for Ingersoll Rand, Torrington, and Fafnir Bearings. After she was transferred from Houston to Tarrant County in 1991, she lived in Bedford, in Irving (for 16 years) and in Carrollton. She was a member of Keep Irving Beautiful, which gave her a senior citizen lifetime achievement award in honor of her service. She also was a member of the Doll Collectors Club of Dallas. She is survived by a brother, Joe Neyenhaus of Tell City, Ind., and his wife, Connie Neyenhaus; a son, Tavis Schriefer of Carrollton and his wife, Jill Schriefer; a daughter, Lisa Schriefer-Stoner of Katy; a granddaughter, Dakota Frederickson of Katy and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi; two grandsons, Jonathan Schriefer of Plano and Nicholas Schriefer of Fort Bliss, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Octavian, and Xavier Schriefer of Plano. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that any donations go to the Fisher House Foundation located at 111 Rockville Pike Suite 420 Rockville, MD 20850.
