Obituary for Mary Maxey Owen

Mary Maxey Owen, age 87 died on March 1, 2015. Born on January 30, 1928, to Bruce Evans Maxey and Eddie Wall McFaddin, she was a resident of Irving for 65 years and became the founder of Owen Home Builders in 1948. This was the beginning to Mary’s long and enjoyable career in apartment and commercial property development, which she continued until her time of death. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Hazel Mathews, and her brothers Bruce Maxey and Billy Maxey. Left to carry on her loving memory and legacy are her son, Ross Owen and wife Dorothy of Irving; daughter Patricia Owen Crow and husband Ronnie also of Irving; grandson Evan Owen and his wife Susan; grandson Edward Owen and wife Anne-Sophie; grandson Alan Owen; granddaughter Mollie Fennell; grandson Mark Crow and his wife Kristen, all of Irving; grandson Mike Crow and wife April of McKinney; grandson Brian Crow of Irving, great granddaughter Colbie Owen of Irving, great granddaughter Rylee Crow also of Irving, along with great grandson Hodges Crow of McKinney. Mary was an active member of the Oak Haven United Methodist Church. The family is requesting all memorial donations be made to the Oak Haven United Methodist Church Memorial Fund at 1600 N. Irving Heights in Irving, Texas 75061. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home and a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Oak Haven Methodist Church with burial immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
