Obituary for Margaret Ruth Overton (Free)

Margaret Ruth Overton, age 82 previously of Haskell and Abilene, an Irving resident for the past 32 years, died on June 9, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 4, 1932 in Pleasant Valley, Texas to George Edward and Mary Beatrice McDuff Free. Margaret devoted most of her time to caring for and nurturing her family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Haskell, Texas and later belonged to Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in Irving. She loved sewing and horseback riding and was given the opportunity to ride one of the white horses at Hardin-Simmons University. Margaret will be forever missed by her beloved husband Ray Overton, Jr; daughter Mary Margaret Meyer and husband Bill of Dallas; brother Robert Free of Paint Creek, TX and niece Roberta Wells of Seymour, TX. The family will receive friends at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving, Texas from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2015. A luncheon will be held at Noon on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Haskell. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with interment immediately following in Willow Cemetery in Haskell.
