Obituary for Zona Kay Franklin (Pope)

Zona Kay Franklin, 69, received her wings at 1:05pm as she was surrounded by the continual loving presence of her family on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Zona was born June 5, 1947 to Homer and Imogene Pope who precedes her along with a brother, Larry Pope. She was a true Irvingite! A loving wife, mother, homemaker and caring friend to so many. She was also a long-time hairstylist in the Irving/DFW area for well over 45 years. Zona will be dearly missed by her husband Tommy Franklin for which they shared almost 50 years of marriage, two sons Michael Franklin and wife Tamra of Little Elm, Steven Franklin and wife Annie of Hurst, along with grandsons Jacob Skinner, Marshall Franklin, Shaun Franklin, Alex Franklin, and granddaughter Kealy McMurphy. She will also be missed by her sisters Delores White, Lavinia Harrison, Marilyn Nemec and brother Darryl Pope, and sister-in-law Georgia Thomas -- all of Irving. Zona had many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members too that she shared so much fun with. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 5 at Grace Pointe Church, 208 S. Story Road in Irving with Pastor Patrick Wooten officiating. Family requests memorials be made to Grace Pointe Church, 208 S. Story Road, Irving, Texas 75060.
