Obituary for Amy Elizabeth Middleton

Amy Elizabeth (Willingham) Middleton, age 44, died Thursday, February 25, 2021. Born March 25, 1976, in Irving, she was the daughter of the H.L. “Butch” Willingham, and the late Becky (Breeding) Massey. She attended Irving High School, during which time she was a cheerleader and active in multiple sports over her four years – basketball, volleyball and swimming. Following graduation in 1994, Amy began working at North Lake (DCCCD) part-time in the Counseling Department for several years while also working at Bank One. She eventually transitioned into a full-time position at North Lake. She continued working at North Lake for the next 21 years in various roles with the Continuing Education and Workforce/Business/Technology Departments. Just recently, Amy had taken on a new role with D&S Engineering Labs, LLC, working as an Administrative Assistant.
At her 20th high school reunion, Amy reconnected with longtime friend Jason Middleton. It was the beginning of a wonderful love story. Two years later, Jason and Amy were married on July 15, 2016. They were soulmates, living their lives with their three much loved four-legged children: Aria, Otis and Mokie. Amy was enjoying her new position at D&S while also being able to work at the same company with Jason – they enjoyed getting to see each other during the day and sharing lunches together.
Amy had the biggest smile and the tenderest heart. She was kind to all – even if you barely knew her. She cared about her family and friends immensely, and could brighten your day with her genuine smile, her laughter and her caring nature. Amy made everyone feel special. Spending time with her family was a priority, and she loved the established family holiday traditions. She was a wonderful Auntie – always present at activities involving Caitlin, Keegan and others in the family. She loved to spend time with friends over a meal or at a social event, or just relaxing away the day in the pool. Amy never met an animal that she didn’t adore. She connected with animals, showering them with her love.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Becky Massey, and her grandparents, Herb and Jo Willingham, and Jerry and Ruth Breeding.
She is survived by her husband, Jason Middleton; father, Butch Willingham and wife DJ; sister, Julie Cobleigh and husband Geoff, a niece and nephew, Caitlin and Keegan Cobleigh; aunt, Amy Wehunt; cousin, Lauren Brown and husband David (children Adrian and Carly); step-siblings Pamela Wilson and husband Rocky (and family), and Jimmy Koerth and wife Tammy (and family); as well as numerous extended family members
The family is planning for a Celebration of Life event at a later date. Arrangements handled by Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, Irving, Texas. For those interested, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Amy’s memory be made to the SPCA of Texas, Irving Animal Services, or any animal rescue/adoption center of your choosing.
