Obituary for Ashlee Marie Secrest
Ashlee Marie Secrest, age 35, passed to soon on Thursday, June 27, 2019. She was born a tiny 4lb 11oz fiery red head full of life and charisma in Middletown, Ohio to David Edward Secrest and Thea Marie (Musgrave) Eck on Wednesday, August 17, 1983. Ashlee had a personal magnetism that drew people to her and was able to reach people in a deep and positive way. Ashlee was the popular sweet cheerleader in school, always making time to talk to everyone, no matter what others might have thought. She never met a stranger, loved everyone and had an infectious laugh and a smile so bright it within itself was contagious as well. Ashlee loved all animals and had a magical way of taming the most feral cat and calming the most ferocious dogs. As the saying goes, animals read people the best and know good from bad. They knew Ashlee was good and loved from deep within her heart. Besides the love she held for animals, she also enjoyed helping the elderly, and worked many years as a nurse’s assistant. It would brighten her day when she was able to put a smile on one of her patients face. Ashlee would go above and beyond planning special meals and events for them. Ashlee tried to be the best daughter she could be, not taking things for granted and being appreciative. She often stated how great she felt her parents where and how much she truly loved them. The love of her life was her beautiful daughter Taylynn. When she was born, nothing was more important than that little girl. Ashlee always wanted only the best for her daughter. When Ashlee became ill, as heartbreaking as it was, she showed a mothers sacrifice, and knew the best thing for her daughter would be to live with her wonderful father Randon. She did and would have done anything possible for her baby girl, and in death, as in life will continue to watch over Taylynn; for this reason, the family is asking for in lieu of flowers donations in Ashlee’s loving memory to be made to her daughter. Ashlee was the baby girl of her family as well and loved beyond measure by her two older sisters. Her older sister Teka lovingly remembers her baby sister as her rock and her safe place, and how they would talk about living together when they grew old just like their grandmother and aunt great aunt Betty, their version of the Golden Girls. The best time spent together for Teka and Ashlee where time they spent just the two of them, times of just sitting on the bed reminiscing about growing up, watching tv, times when they would clean the house, or run errands and bumping “oldies” music. Teka’s best times where always better spent with her baby sister. Ashlee was the one person who truly knew the real her and they had lived many life changes and challenges together. Her older sister Amber fondly remembers all of their adventures they had growing up at the farmhouse. The one memory she carries in her mind even to this day, is when their mom made the girls big southern bell dresses, even though they weren’t southern. The girls sang a Judd’s song in the school talent show and Amber would kick Ashlee to let her know it was her turn to sing. Their parents sat in the audience laughing the entire time. Ashlee is reunited and under the protection now of her father David Edward Secrest, grandmother Marie Musgrave, grandfather Lee Musgrave, grandmother Jeanette Secrest, grandfather James Secrest, uncle Christopher Cain Sr., aunt Patrisha Swartz, and her personal adopted uncle Dwight Collins.
