Obituary for Joan Malone Aylward

Joan Malone Aylward passed away on February 23, 2021. She was born in Ft Worth, Texas where she attended North Side High School. She graduated in 1951. After serving two years in the Navy, she married in 1955 and lived in Irving, Texas.

She attended North Texas State College and graduated in 1969. She taught 23 years at Barton Elementary School in Irving. She loved teaching and was the first one at her school, after summer vacation, to decorate her room and get ready for a new year. She also loved watching her son and two daughters play sports.

After her children were grown, she started square dancing and dancing became her passion. She tapped danced with a group of ladies called the Lovely Tappers. She loved her workout group at Bear Creek Recreation Center.

She was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church for fifty years where she volunteered and taught ESL.

Joan is survived by her son, two daughters and son-in-laws, Philip Aylward, Stephanie and James Reeves and Linda and Bob Davis; five grandchildren, James Reeves, Jr, Rachel Reeves, Maddie and Matt Hughes, Carly Davis and Lucas Aylward; great grandson, Harry Hughes and cousin, Carol Thompson.

A graveside service will be held at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 11:30 a.m.....15 minutes prior to the service, friends and family attending, will begin the processional line up at the cemetery in Lane 3.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Plymouth Park Baptist Church missions.
