Obituary for Bill Davis
Bill Liscomb Davis, age 82 of Irving, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 1st 2021 in Dallas, Texas due to congestive heart failure.
Bill was born in Dallas, Texas November 12, 1938 to Minnie Pearl Davis. He lived in Oak Cliff, and graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1957. He was known for his good work ethic that began when he was 12 and started working at Merek Grocery Store. Bill was introduced to printing quite by accident as the auto shop classes at Crozier Tech had already filled and he was moved to the printing shop classes. It was a skill and trade that would stay with him till his retirement in 2009.
Bill faithfully served his country from 1958 to 1962 in the United States Coast Guard. Bill was stationed in Galveston, Texas. While in the Coast Guard he had many misadventures including fighting the fire on the S.S. AMOCO Virginia. He also twice road out hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico traveling through the eyes of the storms.
Upon completion of his military obligation Bill returned to Dallas to help his mother and embarked on his career in printing starting at Kessel Printing Company. He moved through several companies until he came to Williamson Printing Corporation in 1974. There he found a home with people he deeply loved and appreciated. They also recognized his talents and work ethic and promoted him until he reached the position of Vice President of Engineering.
On many occasions he was known to say that these promotions were beyond his imagination as he was able to learn in detail about the printing industry in a way that as a pressman he never would have been able to. Through his position, Bill was able to travel the world including the following destinations: Germany, England, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Finland, Japan, and Australia. He enjoyed learning about other cultures and would know of historically significant destinations in any country he visited. He was very detail oriented and could see the connections between different faceted ideas.
He is survived by: his wife, Brenda of 53 years, his son Jim Davis and his wife Renee, his daughter Jennifer Thompson and her husband Keith, his grandchildren Samantha Pontius, Micaela Pontius, Will Davis, Molly Kinman, Casey Kinman and Roslyn Thompson.
There will be a private burial at the DFW National Cemetery.
