Obituary for Bob Swift

Robert (Bob) Swift passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 22, 2022, in Dallas, Texas at the age of seventy-two. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 3, 1949, to parents Samuel and Rose Swift. Bob attended King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas where he graduated in 1967. After high school graduation Bob earned his Associates Degree from Delmar Jr. College graduating in 1969. Bob then went on to earn his B.B.A – Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas in Austin where he majored in Personal Management and graduated in 1973. During his time at University of Texas Bob took a chance on a blind date and met the love of his life Lexie. Bob and Lexie got married on August 21, 1971, and celebrated their 50 year wedding anniversary on August 21, 2021.

One of Bob’s proudest moments was on February 28, 1982, the day his son Ryan Swift was born. As Ryan got older Bob would call his son often to talk for hours on end solving the worlds problems. He was proud of how smart and knowledgeable his son is and would call him for advice on repairs and he was always so thankful when Ryan was able to fix the problem. Being a father was Bob’s greatest achievement that is until January 4, 2007, when his granddaughter Hailey was born. Bob often wanted to know where his chickens were – chickens meaning Ryan and Hailey. Hailey affectionately referred to Bob as “Poppi” and had many adventures with her Poppi and grandma like going to museums, libraries, artisan theaters, and restaurant for chicken strips and fries.

Bob loved cars!!! -mostly classic and antique cars. He owned some antique cars- the oldest one being a ‘34 Chevy. His latest project was restoring his ’64 Chevy with his son, Ryan doing the majority of the work, but just to see them work together was everything and all that hard work paid off after 20 years when Bob was able to drive the Chevy. Bob was a member of the VCCA- the National Vintage Chevrolet Club of America and the local chapter - Lone Star Region. He has attended one national meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, has gone on several local tours, and has participated in numerous local parades.

Bob loved cookies so much he will be remembered as the original cookie monster. You could always count on cookies being on the grocery list for that week especially his favorite pecan sandies and cream filled vanilla cookies. Above all Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to his best friend Paul Pullen. Bob and Paul developed a cherished friendship with their mutual love for antique cars.
