Obituary for Cecelia Wells Guthrie

Cecelia Wells Guthrie, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2021 in Irving, Texas. She was a resident of Irving for 62 years. She was an only child born on December 21, 1930 in Pampa, Texas to Adaline Atteberry Naylor and Clyde Wells Naylor. Cecelia grew up in San Antonio, Texas and was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, where she was also a cheerleader. She married the love of her life, Joe Edward Guthrie on February 22, 1952. She worked for Braniff Airlines as a computer librarian for 18 years and then worked for Sprint for 15 years in the same capacity. She loved her family and could always be counted on to guide them through life’s trials with her one-of-a-kind style and flair, her faith in God and her reliable and steadfast words of wisdom. She was an avid sports fan and loved to watch both football and basketball games. She was a devout animal lover and saved and owned many lucky dogs and cats during her lifetime. Her hobbies included interior and exterior design and decorating, reading mystery novels and attending art shows and festivals. She loved spending time with her family and grand kids who were her pride and joy.

Cecelia is preceded in death by her parents and wonderful son-in-law Robert Malone. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, JoLene Kelly of Carrollton, Texas, KarLene Veness and husband Lee Veness of Southlake, Texas, grand children Ryan Kelly and wife Joann, Austin Kelly and wife Valerie, Sergei Veness, Sarah Veness and Katerina Veness and numerous cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. Irving Texas 75061.
