Obituary for Clyde Emmett King

Clyde (86) passed Thursday morning in Dallas at C.C. Young Senior Living, after a long 5-year battle with cancer. He was born November 21, 1936, in his family home on Hwy 37 in Quitman, Texas. He was raised in Quitman and attended Quitman Schools and graduated from Quitman HS in 1954. He played football in High School and had received a full scholarship to play football at Oklahoma University; but during the summer while playing a friendly game of football with friends he suffered a broken back which ended his football career and chance at college.

He moved to Dallas after graduation and always worked in the printing industry. As a young boy he worked alongside his father (Lofton A. King) at The Democrat Newspaper in Quitman, Texas. He learned many different skills in the printing industry at different locations until he went to work in 1961 for Horticultural Printing Co. In 1985 he started his own company, Kingcraft Colorgraphics where he worked until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many hunting trips in his life, especially with his grandson Jay Zeller.

He accepted Christ as Personal Savior as a young boy and strived to serve The Lord all his life. He was baptized in The Ingram Lake in Quitman. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He was called "Pawpaw" and all his grandchildren adored him.

He was preceded in death by: Father and Mother, Lofton A. King and Tennie Robinson King, Sisters, Mary Elna King and Oleta King Stephenson, brother, Doyle King, Wife, Frances Samples King, and granddaughters, Jennifer Marie Zeller and Savina Jessica Perkins.

He is survived by: Sister, Wilda King Langley, daughter, Lynn King Thompson and husband Tom, son, Larry C. King and wife Judy. He has 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and to date 3 great great grandchildren and 1 more due in January 2023. He has many cousins and friends that will all miss him.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of C.C. Young where he lived the last year of his life and made many friends. We want to extend a special Thank You to Mary Pat Smith RN, his Hospice nurse whom he had a close friendship with.

In lieu of flowers we would like to offer options where any donation in his name would be greatly appreciated, and he would have been honored:
• Forrest Hills Baptist Church in Quitman, Texas
• The Lofton A. and Tennie King Enrichment Center on the campus of The Texas Baptist Home for Children and Adoption Center in Waxahachie, Texas

As we his family mourn his passing, we are grateful to all those who cared for him. We will miss him greatly...but we will see him again in Glory.
