Obituary for Dinah Bleau

Dinah Bleau died on December 15, 2020 in Irving, Texas at the age of 76. She was born in Dallas, Texas on January 26, 1944 to mother, Lora Beth Dobkins, and father, Charles Edward Dobkins. Dinah was a very kind, loving, intelligent and hard-working woman. She attended college and earned master’s degrees in English and Library Science. She had a long career as a teacher of English and math at Nimitz High School, and she also taught American and British literature at the University of Texas at Arlington. Dinah was also a member of Mensa. In later years, Dinah was a librarian in the Burleson Independent School District. After retirement, Dinah became involved with the Irving Retired School Personnel Association. Dinah loved nature, which made her the perfect Girls Scout leader for her daughter’s troop, and she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Along with all her accomplishments, Dinah was a loving wife, mother, and friend. Dinah was a member of Plymouth Park United Methodist Church for many years. Her son-in-law, Michael, fondly remembers Dinah with these heartfelt and loving words: “Dinah loved and helped our family immensely. She was one of the most voracious readers I knew, who provided book recommendations, insight, and critique. We loved puzzles and shared triumphs and laughs over New York Times postings. (She had more triumphs than me). A very smart, thoughtful, and nice person. We shared an endearing and enduring love for her daughter, Amanda.”

Dinah was preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Dobkins; mother, Lora Beth Pennington; and son, Brian Napoleon Bleau. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 53 years, Norman Bleau; daughter, Amanda Oglesby, and husband, Michael; grandchildren: Alex Oglesby and Ashlyn Oglesby; sister, Leslie Carter, and husband, Bob; niece, Maria Carter; as well as numerous other family and friends who will all miss Dinah dearly.

The family will privately gather to remember Dinah and will plan a memorial service at a later time due to COVID-19.
