Dorothy Bridges, a 63-year resident of Irving, died peacefully at the age of 93 on Sunday, July 14, 2019. She was born in Keltys, Texas to the late John Henry and Willie Mae (Sikes) Pitts on Tuesday, February 9, 1926. Dorothy was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, who left behind a beautiful legacy and will forever be missed. She enjoyed her work at the Dallas Times Herald, where she worked for 10 years. Dorothy, during her free time was an avid quilter and gardener. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, E. Allen Bridges, sons Boyd Fredregill and Mitchell Fredregill, daughters Beverly Fredregill and Shirley Bridges Barfield, sisters Beatrice Reese and Nadell Bohan, and grandchildren Evan Alexander Robey and John Edward Boyd. Left to cherish her memory are her son Roger “Keith” Fredregill and wife Susan of Killen, TX; daughter Joyce Shankles of Irving, TX; daughter Debbie Holcomb and husband James of Terrell, TX; sister Katherine Johnson of Justin, TX; 20 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as extended loving family and friends. The family will receive friends between 7:00 and 9:00pm, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 N. Story Rd. in Irving with an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
