Obituary for Doug Simmons

Doug Simmons died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 76 years of age. He was born in Big Spring, Texas to John Elmer and Mattie Mae (Rhodes) Simmons on Thursday, January 25, 1945. Doug served in the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era. After his service, Doug worked 40 years as a manufacturer Enginer for Bell Helicopter until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the Westside Church of Christ. Doug is preceded in death by both parents and 2 brothers, Clarance and Harland Simmons. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 42 years, Jackie Simmons; son Todd Bean and spouse Genise; son Timothy “Timbo” Simmons and Julie Miller; grandson Jon Bean; granddaughter SaVannah Bean; 2 great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and loving friends. Doug will be privately be laid to rest at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family will be receiving brief condolences between 9:15am through 9:45am for those not attending the service due to attendance restrictions. A memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving on Monday, February 8, 2021. Due to current Covid-19 Restriction a limit of only 40 persons inside the building at one time is allowed..
