Eldon "Bud" Hansen, of Dallas, Texas passed away after leading a rich and full life on Monday, March 15, 2021, at 91 years of age. He was born on April 10, 1929 in Alma, Kansas, the second child and only son of Walt and Ann Zeckser Hansen. He grew up in Topeka, Kansas.
After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, Bud attended Indiana Tech University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in just 2 years. In 1958 he married Mildred (Millie) Goodwin in Topeka, Kansas. Bud worked in the Aerospace industry for 37 years, he was most proud of his work with Wernher von Braun on the Saturn S1-C Rocket Booster, used to put the First Man on the Moon. Bud retired from LTV Aerospace as a Program Director. He enjoyed refurbishing old cars, playing golf and a good party.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters: JoAnn Dietiker, Nadine Gordon and Marilyn McDougald.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Millie Hansen; daughter Lisa Smiley and husband Kameron; grandson Bryson Smiley and granddaughter Ashton Smiley as well as numerous other family and friends who will miss Bud dearly.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at The Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas at 1:00 pm Monday, March 29, 2021...15 minutes prior to the service, friends and family attending, will begin the processional line up at the cemetery in Lane 3.
