Obituary for Elizabeth Sue Martin

Elizabeth Sue Martin passed away on Thursday, February 24th, 2022. Born in Howe, Texas on Thursday, October 9th, 1930, to her parents Haskell Wayne Walling and Daisy Lila (Butler) Walling. She was married for 62 years to the love of her life James Augustus Martin who passed in 2009. They resided in Irving, Tx for many years where she worked as a secretary and then Vice President for over thirty years at Southwest Bank and Trust. She broke the barriers of what then was considered a ‘man’s job’ in many of the positions she held during her career as a Loan Officer. She later moved to Sanger, Texas to enjoy retirement on a beautiful piece of land. She was very dedicated to her children, grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her grandkids and great grandkids were her life whom she loved to spoil. Sue loved many wonderful years at their lake house entertaining family and friends. Boating and golf cart rides around the lake were her favorite activities. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was known to many as making the best coconut cream pie.

Sue is survived by her children, son Mike Martin and wife Sandra, and daughter Sonia Corbin, grandchildren: Tamyra Maxey and husband Robert, Clint Corbin and wife Corey, Allison Hendrick and husband Kyle, Chad Corbin and wife Rachel, and Adam Martin and wife Holly; and great grandchildren: Hannah Maxey, Hayle Maxey, McKinley Corbin, Paige Hendrick, Presley Corbin, Nathan Hendrick, Montgomery Martin, Briley Corbin, Crosby Corbin, and McCoy Martin.

A graveside service will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in The Garden of Love at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd., Irving, Texas 75060.
