Eula “Polly” Townley passed away October 22, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born October 30, 1930 in Jacksboro, Texas to father, Johnny Gates, and mother, Maggie Smith. Polly was known to love yardwork and mowed her own yard with her push mower well into her 80’s. Although she loved her husband John dearly, she would not let him talk her into getting a self propelled mower for her yard. Polly married the love of her life John and worked hard to support him while he furthered his education and earn his doctorate so he could serve as Superintendent in the Irving School Districts. Along side John, Polly loving cared for students and was known to bring children who became ill at school home to care for until their parents could be with them. She was an amazing seamstress and could sewing anything from scratch. Polly loved to live her life laughing and smiling with other surrounding her.

Polly is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. John Townley; father, Johnny Gates; mother, Maggie Smith; and brother, John Leonard Gates. Left to cherish her memory is cousins: Clifford Hugg, and Tevra Epperson; as well as a host of loving distant family, friends and the many students who are now grown that Polly along with John loved taking care of.

Family will receive friends from 10:00a.m. thru 11:00a.m. Wednesday October 28, 2020 at Oakview Baptist Church 1004 S Story Rd, Irving, TX 75060. Funeral service will follow at 11:00a.m. Wednesday October 28, 2020 at Oakview Baptist Church 1004 S Story Rd, Irving, TX 75060. Graveside service will be held at 2:30p.m. Wednesday October 28, 2020 at Wesley Chapel Cemetery 15706 Hwy 281 N Jacksboro, TX 76458.
