Obituary for Evelyn Ruth Simpson
Evelyn Ruth (Ashley) Simpson passed away March 22, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born January 8, 1948 in Corsicana, Texas to father, Earnest Ashley, and mother, Peggy Jo (Myers) Ashley. Evelyn had many hobbies which included gambling especially playing the slots, crocheting, and playing bingo. She enjoyed watching television mainly SYFY such as Star Trek and superhero shows. She loved and cherished spending time with her family especially during thanksgiving and Christmas. The family will always fondly remember Evelyn’s first Thanksgiving when she was in charge of cooking and forgot the giblets inside of the Turkey. Although her first time cooking was a big mistake it remains a memory that will always make the family laugh and smile. Evelyn will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her father, Earnest King Ashley; mother, Peggy Jo (Myers) Ashley; and sister, Cathy Ashley Shipp. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Christopher D. Simpson; grandchildren: Jamie Simpson, Johnathon Simpson, Joseph Simpson, and Joshua Simpson; sister, Donna Riss; sister Rhonda Miller and husband Randy; as well as numerous step children, step grandchildren; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive friends from 10:00a.m. thru 11:00a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. Irving, Texas 75061.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. Irving, Texas 75061.
Immediately following the funeral service a graveside will be held at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens 1413 E. Irving Blvd. Irving, Texas 75060.
