Obituary for Florence "Flo" Rita Goldstein Stevens
Florence “Flo” Rita Goldstein Stevens passed away on June 26, 2022, in Weatherford, Texas at the age of ninety. She was born in The Bronx, New York on November 13, 1931, to parents Samuel and Tillie Goldstein. Florence moved from the Bronx to Irving, Texas where she lived for 66 years. She was a caring and dedicated nurse for 14 years. Above all Florence will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Cherished wife. Treasured mother. Beloved daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother. Steadfast friend, life-long student. Our very own self-appointed historian. A proud, cut-to-the-chase New Yorker who spent most of her life tolerating the Texas heat—you shared with us your indelible kindness, compassion, infinite pluck and endless depth of classic films and Hollywood wisdom. Free-spoken, whip-smart, and elegant—more bombshell than Liz Taylor. Porcelain dolls, brazen commentary, auburn waves, and red lipstick—always the height of fashion and style. You kept us looking our best. Dessert was the most important meal of the day. We felt lucky if you shared.
To have known you, loved you and been loved by you has been our great honor, our lucky fate, our dearest blessing. Your legacy will live on in our eternal love and precious memories.
Florence is preceded is death by her father, Samuel Goldstein; mother, Tillie (Aibinder) Goldstein; and brother, Melvin M. Goldstein. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Quillen Stevens; daughter, Taryn Bishop, and husband Joe; son, Jeffrey Stevens; granddaughters: Jenifer Bishop, and Jessica Bishop; great granddaughter, Ana Cameron, great grandsons: Quillen Kota Cameron, and Bodhi Flynn Cameron; as well as numerous other family and friends who will miss Florence dearly.
A graveside service for Florence will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Oak Grove Memorial Park 1413 E. Irving Blvd. Irving, Texas 75060.
