Obituary for Gail Hoover

Gail Hoover of Arlington, TX passed away March 27, 2021 with his sister and brother-in-law by his side. He was born November 19, 1954 to Edward Maine Hoover and Vera Marie Hoover of Pearl, IL.

Gail grew up between Pearl and Nebo Illinois on a 60-acre farm, where he helped his dad raise cattle, bale hay, and tend to any and all things that needed to be done. He was also active with his grandpa’s nearby farm shearing sheep, harvesting soybeans, and working on tractors as need be. The farm life didn’t particular appeal to Gail, but he loved to hunt, collect guns and work on his ships and collector car models growing up.

He entered the Air Force as and Aircraft Maintenance serviceman and spent 6 years in Chanute, IL, Biloxi, MS, and California working on the C-5 cargo Aircraft. After leaving the Ari Force, Gail worked in the semiconductor industry in California for over 20 years, traveling globally for the companies he worked with.

After being encouraged by his family to move back to Texas, he finally settled in nearby to his sister and brother-in-law in Arlington, TX. He was an active member of the Arlington Amateur Radio club holding a Hamm Radio license for the past 3 years. He was excellent at leather crafting and has left several keepsakes for his family.

Gail passed away at Arlington Memorial Hospital from acute pancreatitis.

Gail leaves behind his sister, Mary Jean Allison, brother-in-law, Ken Allison, nephews: Tim Gilfilen and wife Katie of Sierra Vista, AZ and Ben Flowers and wife Coney, of Irving, TX.
