Harriet Sue Stevens

April 11, 1940 – October 11, 2022

Harriet Sue Stevens, age 82, of Irving, Texas died peacefully in her home on October 11, 2022. Sue was born April 11, 1940 in Dallas County and raised in Dallas, Texas. A graduate of North Dallas High School, she went on to business school and became a secretary at Snapshots Photo Processing. There she met the love of her life, Mickey. They were married soon after.

Sue married John Michael (Mickey) Stevens January 30, 1960 and shared over 61 years together. They enjoyed a life of travel, museums, music, antiquing, and most of all, family. A long-time member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church, her Sunday School teaching legacy began as a senior in High School at North Haven Baptist Church and continued for over 55 years. She was a housewife raising their three children until they reached high school. She then went to work as a secretary at The University of Dallas College of Business and the Graduate School of Management as an assistant to the Associate Dean until her retirement after 29 years. Sue was very involved in Camp Fire Girls for over 15 years which included volunteering at the district level to train the leaders in various outdoor skills. Throughout her life there was always a cup of coffee and a book. She enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, bowling, camping, watching the Texas Rangers and other sports, and cooking family dinners for every possible occasion.

Sue is survived by her brother, Robert J. (Bobby) Boyd of Dallas, TX, children Michael David Stevens of Kingston, MI, Angela Gayle Walker (Cliff) of Irving, TX, and Scott Alan Stevens (Jennifer) of Irving, TX. Grandchildren David Stevens (Shawna), Garrett Stevens, Kendall Stevens, and CJ Walker. Great Grandchildren Jaden Stevens and Peyton Stevens.

Sue is preceded in death by her father Harry Daniel Boyd, mother Noel Virginia Boyd, and husband John Michael Stevens.

The visitation will be held Monday, October 17, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd, Irving, TX 75061.

Service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM, at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd, Irving, TX 75061.

Burial will take place Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243.
