Irene was born in Summertown, Tennessee, on June 24, 1932, to Guy and Estella Hulen. After marrying Charles Coleman, they moved to Detroit, Michigan and then retired to Leoma, Tennessee. The years that followed, Irene married Joseph Greer and moved to Shelbyville, Tennessee, and later to Hartselle, Alabama. Five years ago, Irene moved with her husband, Joseph Greer, to Bedford, Texas, where they lived at Parkwood Senior Living and she became known as a “Queen of Parkwood.” Irene loved going to gospel meetings, fishing and camping, cheese and crackers, gardening, playing cards and bean bag baseball. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 36 years, Charles Ray Coleman, Sr.; and her siblings Lois, Leora, and Donald.
Irene is survived by, her husband of 27 years, Joseph Morris Greer of Bedford; children, Charles Coleman and wife Divina of Pacoima, California; Joe Greer, Jr. and wife Sandra of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; Donna Aulerich and husband Dean of Bedford, Texas; Lisa Greer of Romulus, Michigan; and Janice Helvey and husband Rod of Cody, Wyoming; grandchildren, Charles III; Emyrene; Stacey and husband Ben; Jodie and husband Justin; Dean, Jr.; Deborah and husband Chase; Joseph; Benjamin; Rachel; Leah; Levi John; Rebecca; Amos; Hannah; Levi and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Irene at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home located at 707 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving, Texas, 75061. A graveside service will take place March 14, 2022, in Leoma, Tennessee.
