Obituary for Janice Marjorie Walker (Snider)

Janice Marjorie Walker (Snider)
August 13, 1936 - February 15, 2021

Janice Snider was born on August 13, 1936 in Suitland Maryland to Floyd and Grace Snider. Her father passed away when she was 13 and her mother continued the journey of raising five children on her own. Janice met Bill Walker on one of her regular visits to the skating rink, which is where their love story began and married a short three months later. Janice and Bill married on August 24,1958 and had five children, William Jr, (1959), Sheryl (1961), Shannon (1963), and twins Sharon and Shawn in 1969, which completed their family unit, which totaled a biblical number of 7!

Upon the passing of Bill, they were married 61 years. Mom and Dad raised 5 children and leave a legacy of faith through all of us. She loved through works and giving and always had busy hands finding ways to serve. She sewed, cooked, crocheted, wrote notes of encouragement, quilted, loved on the dogs (her favorites), and sewed some more. Later in life, the center of her world became her grandchildren. She attended games, concerts, awards ceremonies, recitals, cheer competitions, and was the biggest cheerleader of her “grands”.

Her last year was difficult without our father and we rejoice with her as she enters heaven and is welcomed home. Mom spent the last month hospitalized from ongoing seizures that had an undetermined cause and just before being admitted, she told us that she was dying and would be gone soon. We thought that was ridiculous, but we believe that she had seen where she was going (in a dream one morning) and knew that her time was short. We are thankful for the gift of the last weeks to care for her and love on her. She will be missed so much and it is hard to process the fact that our parents are gone. Age doesn't matter when it comes to your mom and dad, and life is never the same when you lose the ability to pick up the phone and hear their voices.

Janice’s granddaughter (Kendall Janice) played a video earlier in the week of Dad (Pop) singing. He may have been a little giddy from pain meds and it was captured just days before he passed away, but after hearing that, we all believe he was singing a beautiful song in heaven as he awaited his bride.

All of her children dedicate Proverbs 31:25-30 to our Mom as we honor her!
