Obituary for Joan Gibb

Joan Gibb passed away January 6, 2023 in Irving, Texas at the age of 90. She was born to parents Alfred and Ruth Borges on June 21, 1932 in Lodgepole, Nebraska.

Joan was born and raised in Nebraska but lived in many places as an adult. Her husband Gordon Gibb worked for Mobil Oil, and they lived in many towns and cities in Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico and even in Vienna, Austria. She loved to travel and was never afraid to take on the challenge of settling in a new place.

Gordan and Joan retired to Hide-a-Way Lake in 1986 where Joan lived for 25 years before moving to Remington Senior Living in Irving, Texas in 2016. While living at Hide-a-Way she attended Lindale United Methodist Church, volunteered at the Salvation Army and at the Church’s Thrift Store.

Joan was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family, home, and gardens. Entertaining friends and family was a true love of hers. She was an excellent bridge player and played as often as possible which led to many of her close friendships.

Joan and her husband loved to travel and were blessed to have been able to visit many places in Canada, Europe, England, China, Australia, South America and throughout the United States. When she was no longer able to travel, she liked to read about foreign locations.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Cindy Alleman and husband Rod of Irving TX, Beth Hall and husband Jim of Bentonville AR; son, Colin Gibb and wife Julie of League City TX; grandchildren: Lea Hall Millett and husband Paul, and Luke Hall and wife Sarah; great grandchildren: Allie Millett, Grant Millett, Cara Jo Millett and Ellie Hall; as well as many other family and friends who will miss Joan dearly.
